ABOUT THE QUÉBEC ASSOCIATION OF CHRONIC PAIN (AQDC)

The mission of the Québec Association of Chronic Pain (AQDC) is to improve the condition and reduce the isolation of people with chronic pain in Québec.

We have chosen to help patients :

  • by sensitizing the population to chronic pain;
  • by informing business decision makers and politicians of the major medical, social and economic issues related to chronic pain;
  • by informing patients about pain publications;
  • by fostering the training of health professionals in the longer term by providing fellowships to enable them to participate in training courses on chronic pain.

Testimonials

The chronic pain self-management program has changed my life for the better! The information provided in the workshop is also available in books, but participation in the workshop transforms a simple reading into a very enriching human experience. The program encourages self-awareness and knowledge. I applied the proposed plans of action to my own life and the strength of the group (sharing, exchanging, listening) helped immensely. In my opinion, these are the program’s two strongest elements. Following the program helped me return to work a few months later.

I have a standing monthly appointment with the AQDC support group in Trois-Rivières. I’m always looking forward to the next meeting. The quality of the speakers and the wealth of information that is shared are invaluable. I always come out of these meetings exhilarated and with enough energy to last the rest of the month. Not only do I learn a lot during these meetings, but I don’t feel as isolated with this disease since there are others who also suffer from chronic pain.

Whether it’s the chronic pain self-management program or support groups, I happily recommend them all! The AQDC is one of the organisations (along with Association de la Fibromyalgie Mauricie/Centre-du-Québec) that has made a real difference in my life! Thank you.
